Lanzor (lansoprazole) is a specific proton pump (H+, K+ - ATPase) inhibitor of the gastric parietal cell. Lansoprazole is used to treat and prevent stomach and intestinal ulcers, erosive esophagitis (damage to the esophagus from stomach acid), and other conditions involving excessive stomach acid such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.

Dosage | Duodenal Ulcer: One 30 mg capsule per day for 2-4 weeks. Lansoprazole is indicated for H. pylori positive duodenal ulcers, as part of the eradication programme with appropriate antibiotics. Gastric Ulcer: One 30 mg capsule per day for 8 weeks. Oesophagitis due to Gastro-oesophageal Reflux: One 30 mg capsule per day for 4 weeks with a second 4-week treatment period, at the same dosage, depending on endoscopic results. Maintenance treatment for the prevention of Gastro-oesophageal reflux: One 15 mg capsule per day for up to one year. No clinical information is available for treatment longer than one year. Functional Dyspepsia: One 15 mg capsule daily for two to four weeks. Children: The use of lansoprazole in children has not been studied. Elderly Patients: No adjustment to the dose is necessary. The daily dose of 30 mg should not be exceeded. Renal Insufficiency: No dose adjustment is required in the presence of renal failure, including patients on dialysis. |
